Looks like there is another big surprise coming from New York City, but this time it's not brooklyn, but columbia university that gives birth to the new big thing. They're called Vampire Weekend and they play some good old pop music, mixed with some tribal african rythims, some guitar riffs and some talking heads here and there. This is the right place to show you some good music and the best music store in Nyc, Other Music. Here are Vampire Weekend playing an instore set at other music in Manhattan.

click here for their myspace... and here for their website.... and now even an mp3 for Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa

Three guitar players, three bass players, one drummer a percussionist, one keyboard, one pianist, a string quartet and nine singers. This what The Ocean is all about, and the best news is that this “Berliner” collective is about to issue an album composed of a full length named “Proterozoic” and an EP called “Hadean/Achean”. No videos for the moment but don’t miss their myspace page and give a look to those two old cuts. Sophisticated brutality!

Film School - Hide Out (Beggars Banquet)

Frankly…what’s still new? Or even original?
Certainly isn’t “hide out” last work of Film School.
But if you are someone that listen to music for the feeling you get and not because is trendy or not, you will love it!
Support act for tv on the radio, Film school delivers a highly emotional work.
“hide out” has the power to resurrect the best of the indie scene of the last twenty years, Catherine Wheel, My bloody Valentine, New Model Army, and the homesick atmosphere of Cure ‘s masterpiece “Disintegration”.
More I listen to it, and more I love it!!

Burial-Untrue (Hyperdub records)
(a 2-step / garage experience)

Sitting down in the middle of a dark room. A weak blue light turned on, voices from the street keep me still awake. Another week-end turning to an end and always the same feeling…..”oh shit I drank too much”. I light a cigarette, ‘cause I want to keep this Saturday still alive…. and I dream, I dream of London, Brixton clubbers, dancing the late hours of the night…they look like hungry zombies, sucking on the rest of the night …and I like it!

Dillinger Escape Plan are back with a new album that sounds exactly like a puzzle, cohesively mixing jazz, math rock, grindcore with elements of ambient electronic music, is this avant-garde?

Difficult to explain the real core of this album, just click here and listen to the tracks that are out

Apparat “Walls”

Sascha Ring, better known as Apparat, after melting with Ellen Allien for a fascinating trip landed on “Orchestra of Bubbles”, shapes this wall of moving and delicate melodies, no, this is more than a wall, there’s a baroque painting on it, and you are like hypnotized a front of it watching it and wondering how could be so beautiful. An unequal gem.

Torngat, "you could be"

Montreal it’s an unstoppable music machine and Torngat is another pleasant example.
Torngat is a trio, and sounds like an extravagant circus orchestra, they make children smiles and them parents melancholic dreamers.
French horn, trumpet, xylophone…..”you could be” couldn’t sounds better!
